As part of its Philanthropy program, Reiter Affiliated Companies has made a
long-lasting commitment to support the Boys and Girls Club
August 08, 2021- (Oxnard, California). Reiter Affiliated Companies (RAC), a family-owned agricultural grower of fresh berries in Ventura Country, has reaffirmed its commitment to support the communities where it operates by donating $37,500 to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme (BGCOP) for the Nyeland Center in Oxnard and having a volunteer day at the center.
Since its creation, the Boys and Girls Club at Nyeland Center has been a safe space for children to develop and prosper; most of the young people who attend the center are children of agricultural workers who would otherwise not have access to any type of after-school program. Now, amidst the COVID-19 crisis, the Center has provided valuable help for children and teenagers to continue their education, and meet and engage with each other under safe conditions.
The donation was made by the RAC Oxnard Philanthropy Committee and is the second donation RAC has made to the BGCOP this year. Earlier this year, the company donated $36,000 for COVID-19 relief support, meant to provide 96 children with remote learning support and enrichment activities from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each weekday during the spring semester of the 2020/2021 academic year.
The most recent donation, by RAC, will make an immediate and long-lasting impact in the lives of the young people who attend the Center, since it will be invested in modernizing the facilities and implementing new STEAM Innovation Labs, which will allow attendees to immerse in science, innovation and agricultural activities.
Additionally, the Reiter family, owners of RAC and multi-generational farmers, have pledged a personal multi-year donation to the Club which will substantially support their infrastructure, programming and long-term sustainability within the community. In recognition, the Nyeland Center will be renamed this year as The Reiter Family Youth Center.
It is a great honor for the Reiter organization to make a positive and long-lasting impact on its community and they hope this action will inspire others to do the same. “We are honored to have the support Reiter Affiliated Companies,” said BGCOP CEO Erin Antrim, “They have made an incredible positive impact for agricultural worker families and the children of the Nyeland Acres Community.”
In addition to the donation, RAC, as part of its GRACE program for community engagement, and Driscoll’s, will also host a Volunteer Day at the Center on August 28, 2021. Volunteers from both companies will help paint and repair the facilities so that children and teenagers have access to renovated areas when they return to the Center for the new school year.
