Reiter Affiliated Companies Celebrates Harvest Academy 2019 Graduates

High School and College Students Throughout California Complete 6 Week Harvest and Education Program

August 19, 2019 – (Oxnard, California) – Reiter Affiliated Companies (RAC) announces the completion of the 2019 Summer Harvest Academy in Watsonville and Salinas, Santa Maria and Oxnard, California.  

Students who were currently enrolled in high school, junior college or a 4-year university, spent their summer working within the Reiter Affiliated Companies organization for a unique opportunity to gain work experience and learn first-hand about Agriculture.

“We are excited to share the news about the successful completion of our second year of Harvest Academy,” said Courtney Catalano, Director of Communications and Community Engagement. “We are highly focused on inspiring the young minds of today to not only see their future in agriculture but gain a stronger understanding and appreciation for the hands and land that feed us. We would like to congratulate the Harvest Academy students for their dedication, hard work and keen interest in our program.”

Over the course of several weeks, students received on-the-job training in raspberry harvesting and other ranch activities while also participating in an educational curriculum with topics ranging from Agronomy 101, Innovating Growing Practices, Consumers and Delight and understand important natural resources.

Students who completed Harvest Academy and are currently enrolled in higher education or are about to pursue further education, are eligible to apply for Reiter’s Harvest Academy Scholarship. Three students will be selected as the 2019 Harvest Academy Scholarship, one per operating region in Oxnard, Santa Maria and Watsonville, California.

Reiter Affiliated Companies established the Harvest Academy to encourage students to pursue summer harvest employment opportunities, while at the same time participating in a hands-on educational curriculum that furthers their knowledge and understanding of sustainable farming and the future of agriculture today.
