Dan Balbas is a berry grower for Reiter Farms, producing berries that are marketed under the Driscoll’s label. Over the last decades, groundwater pumping has exacerbated seawater intrusion into the area’s freshwater aquifers, which threatens agricultural production. Balbas discusses what farmers and Pajaro Valley Water Management Agency are doing to address the groundwater problem.
