Success Stories - Alex
Alex originally began working in the berry industry as a farm worker in Oxnard, California with Driscolls; however after a quick unemployment he began working for Reiter Affiliated Companies in September of 1996. Starting off as a weed picker, he was noticed by his superiors for his hard work and dedication, landing him a promotion. Ten years later he is now ranch manager for raspberry production. His dedication and hard work are complemented by his laid-back demeanor and friendly attitude. After flagging him down in at the ranch a RAC interviewer and he sat down for an interview.
RAC: How many different jobs had you had with Reiter Affiliated Companies?
Alex: I originally started as a weed picker, was then hired as a berry picker, and held postitions as a truck driver, ranch overseer, and finally as a ranch manager. This rotation of jobs and promotions has allowed me to be much more successful at what I do, and I am grateful for that.
RAC: What is the most important career decision you have made?
Alex: To tell you the truth, there really hasn’t been one. I started as a weed picker and worked and focused on the tasks in front of me. I haven’t had to make any hard decisions because opportunities were always presented: my hard work was always noticed.
RAC: What advice would you give to current and future employees?
Alex: Farming is hard work. I would tell employees that in order to get noticed you have to work harder then everyone else; there is always something to be done.
RAC: What advice would you give future employees?
Alex: I would tell any employee, current or future, that this company has numerous opportunities, but only if you are willing to put in the hard work and dedication.
