TITLE:                               Knowledge & Innovation Project Manager, Eastern Region

REPORTS TO:                Knowledge & Innovation Strategic Projects Manager

LOCATION:                     Western North Carolina and Central Florida

 

POSITION PURPOSE: 

The successful candidate will be responsible for all horticultural trials and technology development projects in Reiter Affiliated Companies’ Eastern production region.  Focus areas include substrate growing systems, fumigation methods and alternatives, spray efficiency, irrigation, monitoring systems, and resource use tracking.  The successful candidate will provide thorough evaluation and visibility of results, and will drive commercial adoption.

 

 JOB SUMMARY:

·         Provide collaboration and technical support to the production management team

·         Implement climate, water use, and soil moisture monitoring systems

·         Supervise installation of all trial specific materials and equipment including irrigation, structures, trellis, etc.

·         Train and manage support personnel

·         Evaluate, document, and report all project results.  Drive grower adoption of successful techniques.

·         Develop and manage operating and capital budgets; manage costs; and deliver expected financial results

·         Engage and collaborate with all internal and external resources including universities, grower peers, and Reiter knowledge network

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

·         Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or related field

Title:                                     Health educator (part time, 20 hrs/week)

Scope of

Responsibilities:

The health educator is responsible for facilitating health education sessions as part of the Pasos Saludables program, an obesity and diabetes prevention program designed to help REITER’s field employees make healthy choices for themselves and their families. 

 

Supervision:

Reports to the Program Coordinator.

 

Essential Functions:             

 

·         Recruit participants in Pasos Saludables Program through field outreach in coordination with Program Coordinator.

·         Facilitate Pasos Saludables health education sessions

·         Maintains high level of participation and engagement among program participants

·         Lead program activities with participants to raise awareness and knowledge of healthy habits

·         Provide written/verbal feedback to supervisor on program activities

·         Meet with Program Coordinator on a weekly basis

·         Provide information and assistance as needed. 

 

Requirements:

·         Spanish proficiency, written and spoken

·         Experience working with migrant/seasonal farm workers

·         Cultural competency with regards to the farm worker community

TITLE:                      Blackberry Ranch Manager

REPORTS TO:         Blackberry Production Manager

LOCATION:             Oxnard, CA

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Blackberry Ranch Manager performs the vital function of operating the blackberry farm operation in an organized and innovative manner to achieve company profitability goals.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Blackberry Production Manager, the Blackberry Ranch Manager will maintain a blackberry farming operation in the Oxnard District of CA. They will directly manage the farming operations and be responsible for it’s P&L. The Blackberry Ranch Manager’s responsibilities will include all aspects of the assigned farming operation in the Oxnard area. These aspects will include overseeing ranch development operations such as managing the ground prep and planting process, hiring needed employees and management of operational and harvest labor while executing day to day cultural growing practices and harvest activities in order to ensure a successful program.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

B.S. degree in an appropriate agronomic field desired.

3 years experience in production agriculture desired.

Direct cane berry crop farming experience a plus.

Bilingual English/Spanish highly desired.

SKILLS:

Greenhouse and Nursery Leadership: Develops an effective team, develops best practices and standard operating procedures, recruits, trains, develops, and evaluates personnel and labor needs. Develops appropriate personnel structure to meet department growth plans.

Greenhouse and Nursery Manager: Successfully transplant, acclimate and grow raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and strawberry plants. Optimize plant nutrition, irrigation, and greenhouse timing. Practice agronomic skills to develop a balanced, healthy, and quality plant. Provides plant order on time, in quantities ordered, and within agreed upon time frames.

Plant Inventory: Accurately track and maintain plant inventory while providing visibility throughout the entire process. Packages and prepares plants for shipment.

Material and Supply Purchaser: Purchases all growing area supplies and materials for the assigned area.

Regulatory Compliance: As a Certified California Private Applicator, ensures legal, accurate, and appropriate material usage.

Internal Customer Engagement: Engages closely with Reiter Affiliated Companies’ contract fruit growers, DSA Breeders, and other internal production customers.

Oversight Outside of Designated area: Visit and collaborate with other Reiter Affiliated Companies operated and contract companies as needed.

Directly supervise a ranch.

·         Hiring of overhead crew for ranch operations.

·         Conduct regular reviews (evaluations) of Overhead employees.

·         Work with crew bosses to insure compliance with all labor and food safety requirements. (RBI, DSA, state, and federal).

·         Work with owners to monitor and control costs, through regular reviews of budgets, crop statements, and production reports.

·         Work with owners to maximize production, through variety development diversification, and cultural practices.

·         Work with owners to maximize revenue, through maximum production, maximum use of value-added packaging, and production of the highest quality product.

·         Work with owners to integrate ranch into the whole Reiter organization.

·         Attend safety meetings, annual labor management training seminars, cultural seminars and Driscoll meetings pertaining to operation.

·         Direct improvement of fruit quality.

·         Responsible for all day to day operations on the ranch.

·         Assist owners in laying out each year’s plantings.

·         Become familiar with ranch soil types and potential problems (e.g. salt, drainage), and work with owners to seek methods of improvement.

Position Purpose:

Reiter Affiliated Companies, an International Berry Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Production team and we currently have a career opportunity available for a Strawberry Ranch Manager.  This individual will be responsible for the farming, harvest, and management of strawberries.  

 

Job Summary: 

 General Responsibilities include:

       

·        Hiring of overhead crew for ranch operations.

Under the direction of the VP of Business Development and Operations, the FL Berry Manager will start up a RAC blueberry farm in Lake Placid, FL and develop plans for a strawberry farm, directly manage its farming operations, and be responsible for its P&L. The FL Berry Manager will be responsible for all aspects of RAC’s new farming operations in Highlands and DeSoto Counties, including overseeing ranch development, managing the ground prep and planting process, hiring and management of operational and harvest labor, and executing day to day cultural growing practices and harvest activities in order to ensure successful crops.
