Food Safety
To be Driscoll’s best berry solution, RAC follows strict guidelines worldwide in the handling of fruit and maintenance of fields. Seeing is believing, the RAC ranches are immaculate.
A prevention mindset rules. Rather than wait until after production, RAC achieves food safety and quality through prevention and operational control. Employment policies and rewards focus on prevention of adverse effects on health, safety and the environment.
A Team Effort
-
The production, food safety, research and development, and human capital departments all collaborate with Driscoll’s Strawberry Associates to support the mission.
-
Guidelines for food safety and quality are provided and taught to all production employees, quality inspectors, ranch managers, and truck drivers.
-
Internal and external audits keep a running score of each ranch’s attention to each detail of the process, from pesticide usage, to water source selection, to harvesting techniques, and the transportation of fruit to the market.
-
Integrated pest management techniques are used in compliance with local and federal laws.
-
RAC measures it’s performance monthly through internal audits, ranch comparisons and internal competition within growing districts.
Strong Record of Success
The high standards of RAC are applied in all countries. RAC complies with all local laws in countries in which we operate. Indeed, RAC exceeds local requirements by using identified best practices, even when local laws do not require it.
The end result is delivery of berries in their cleanest and freshest possible state to our customer: Driscolls Strawberry Associates.
